It is now a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

To visit Petra, you can buy a day pass online that includes a VISA for entry into the country and the entrance to Petra. The best way to get to Petra is by renting a car from Amman airport for around $200 per week. From Amman, it takes about 3.5 hours to reach Petra, and from the Dead Sea, it takes around 3 hours. Once you arrive in Wadi Musa, you can park your car in front of your hotel or in their parking.

When visiting Petra, you will need to walk for 20-25 minutes from the visitor center to reach Petra through the beautiful Siq, which is made of amazing canyons. The best time to visit is early in the morning, around 5:30 am, to avoid crowds and enjoy the site in peace. You will need good shoes as there are 800 steps to climb to reach the monastery.

Petra is a safe place to visit, and Jordan is known for its security and hospitality. However, it is recommended to avoid the areas bordering Iraq and Syria in the north. The country has good infrastructure with paved roads, and security checkpoints are common on the roads and at hotels.

You can also visit Petra by night, but you will need to purchase a separate pass as it is not included in the day pass. The show is held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and features a walk through the Siq with candles and a musician playing instruments at the Treasury.
